Katelynn Kubo posted a pair of seven-goal games Wednesday and the Warriors rebounded from a rare thrashing with an 11-5 victory against Hilo and a 16-4 win against Waiakea at Naeole Pool.
Kubo, who shared BIIF Player of the Year in 2015, was a among a handful of Kamehameha players who missed her team’s 20-7 loss to Hawaii Prep on Saturday.
“We don’t care about that,” coach Dan Lyons said. “We just care about getting better.”
He thought Kamehameha (3-1) did that Wednesday, especially defensively.
“Offensively, we were pretty weak,” Lyons said. “But I think were learned a lot defensively.
“If you are going to throw the ball away a lot and make bad passes, the other team is going to score.”
Against the Vikings (1-3), Lahela Rosario netted a hat trick, and Alyssa Pelanca posted three goals against Waiakea (0-4).
Scoring two goals apiece were Hilo’s Lokelani Ferreira and Waiakea’s Kelee Shimizu.
